Laughing Cow Museum – Lons le Saunier

Located in the town of Lons-le-Saunier (39), this museum recapitulates a century of the history of the most famous cow in the world. This place has become friendly, unusual and sassy but very modern.

Musée de la vache qui ritThe La Vache qui rit house reinvents the brand museum through an interactive and fascinating journey.

Completely redesigned, designed as an atypical experience combining artistic installations and discoveries of the values of this emblematic brand, play and pedagogy mark out the visit to make it particularly fun and attractive for the whole family.

Although the historic part of the brand’s adventure is still in the cellars, the staging offers a multitude of devices such as a digital tablet for children, an animated film explaining the manufacture, or a film making the around the world and manipulations of nutrition.

A “cooking” workshop will also allow you to try your hand at making dishes and recipes based on Bel products.

Lons le saunier

In 1865, Jules Bel moved to Orgelet, a small town in the Jura, to create his cheese company. He obtained and refined white cheese from Emmental or Gruyère cheese with different neighboring fruit trees. After 30 years of work, Jules Bel retired and sold his business to his two children who relocated the company to Lons-le-Saunier in 1896. After the war, in 1921, Léon Bel launched his own brand. “La Vache qui rit” was born. The Laughing Cow House welcomes visitors to the very places where the very first portions of the famous cheese were made, right in the historic center of Lons-le-Saunier.
