Our Ain campsite welcomes you from April to September for nature vacations in a friendly, relaxed family atmosphere.
Valérie and Valentin, the new owners of the campsite since the 2020 season, are looking forward to welcoming you and doing their utmost to make your vacations in the Ain region as pleasant as possible. Domaine de Mepillat has everything you need for a vacation that’s just like you!
You’ll have a choice of accommodation to suit your needs: contemporary mobile homes, chalet-tipi, safari lodge tents, yurts, pods and canvas bungalows. Or simply pitch your tent on one of our large, comfortable, shaded pitches.
Whether you’re a family, a couple or a group of friends, for a short or long stay, you’ll be seduced by the charm of our wooded park, in one of the best campsites in France. You’ll be able to recharge your batteries or go fishing on the banks of thelake that runs alongside the campsite, while combining relaxation with cultural and gastronomic discoveries of our beautiful region, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and more specifically the Ain.
If you share our eco-responsible values, you won’t be disappointed. Here, everything has to do with nature and respect for it. No foam parties in the pool or entertainment galore. We come here to relax, to RESTORE!
That said, the swimming pool and aquatic area, the games, the equipment and our snack-bar-restaurant area, will enable you to enjoy moments of pleasure or relaxation. The 3-star campsite makes a point of protecting its environment! Whether on site or in the surrounding area, you’ll always find something to do or see to discover this part of France, whether in the Ain or the Jura.

Our Ain campsite is committed to protecting its environment. In a magnificent wooded park, on the edge of a beautiful pond, it’s important to us to preserve nature. That’s why we do everything we can to protect it. Compost, mulching, rational mowing and late mowing, selective sorting, environmental maintenance and many other actions are implemented with this aim in mind. The aim of all these actions is to preserve this beautiful natural environment and its biodiversity.
As part of our commitment to the environment, we entered into a partnership with the LPO (Ligue pour la protection des Oiseaux – League for the Protection of Birds) and became a refuge. Our large wooded estate naturally offers magnificent shelter for all kinds of birds, but squirrels, rabbits, hedgehogs and deer have also made it their home.
Relaxing in the campsite pool in the Jura
For a moment of sharing and laughter, head for the swimming pool at our campsite in the Ain.
This beautiful aquatic area welcomes you for a moment of relaxation and conviviality.
For sun worshippers, deckchairs and umbrellas are available for sunbathing.
The pool, heated for your comfort, welcomes young and old alike for a few laps, games or a discovery of the water.
There’s something for all the family in our new aquatic area.
Completely redeveloped in 2024, the pool area has been enlarged, allowing even more freedom to make the most of the space and time.
The pond borders

Our campsite in the Ain region takes its name from the pond that borders it: l’étang de Mépillat. A real biological reserve, this pond will make your vacation even more enjoyable. There’s no shortage of things to do around the pond, including walks, fishing and lounging on the grass in the sun. You’ll be able to observe different species of fish, insects and birds all around the pond.
A stabilized path accessible to all has been created around the pond. Stretching over a kilometer in length, the pond is a place of extraordinary tranquillity. Large trees, including those of the campsite, line the water’s edge, providing the cool shade needed for a moment of relaxation.
And the biggest advantage of all: the view! What a pleasure it is to wake up on a vacation morning, step out onto the terrace of your mobile home and discover the spectacle of life on the pond: herons, ducks, kingfishers will be the actors in a marvellous natural show.
In the evening, you’ll marvel at the setting sun, letting its rays reflect off the pond, making it sparkle with a thousand stars as the gentle eddies stir.
What’s more, there’s a large, beautiful wooden play structure right next to the lake and campsite. Children can play safely on monkey bridges, suspended rings, net bridges and slides!

You can also sleep in one of our canvas bungalows or in a comfortable mobile home rental in the Ain, all with a large terrace. Our mobile homes are perfect for families with children. If you’re looking for a more unusual type of rental at our campsite, we suggest you discover our original wooden chalets in the shape of comfortable teepees, our wooden cabins (pods) or real Mongolian yurts of various sizes.

Numerous services await you on site, so you can leave with peace of mind: bed linen rentals, grills, fridges… for your daily needs, wifi, snack bar, grocery store, everything is done so you can fully enjoy and relax.
Since 2024, the campsite has been equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles. So you can stay with peace of mind and recharge your vehicle in complete safety.

At the crossroads of Bresse, Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy, Maconnais, Dombes, Bugey and Lyon, and ideally located 5 minutes from exit 10 of the A39 and very close to the A6, you’ll be staying in a shady, relaxing estate in the heart of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
From our campsite in the Ain, you can quickly discover the great cultural sites in the surrounding area, such as the Monastère de Brou, theAbbaye de Cluny, the towns of Bourg en Bresse, Macôn, the spa town of Divonne-les-Bains, Louhans and its unmissable cattle market, Ile Chambod, the tonic plain, the first mountain walks in the Jura and all the culinary and wine-producing riches of the region.
A stay at the Mepillat campsite is an opportunity to discover breathtaking sites in the Ain region, such as the Hedgehog waterfall. Just a stone’s throw from the village of Saint Nizier le Bouchoux, you can stroll along the banks of a lake or river, listening to the sound of the water, take a walk in the heart of nature or enjoy an amusement park and a host of other activities.
One of the most beautiful campsites in the Ain region that we visited as a family with children. We had an incredible time, with activities in and around the campsite during the day and cosy nights in our 2-bedroom mobile home. A dream vacation near Bourg-en-Bresse that we recommend to everyone!
What can I do near the campsite?

What kind of entertainment is there?Is there a kids’ club?
At our campsite, it’s time to relax and unwind.
There’s no entertainment or kids’ club here.
On the other hand, we offer a wide range of facilities to ensure that our young campers enjoy a pleasant stay close to nature.
What are the arrival and departure times?
For access to rentals, arrivals are from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and departures before 10:00 am.
For bare pitches, arrivals from 2:00 pm and departures before 12:00 pm.
Is it possible to swim in the pond next to the campsite?
The pond is not suitable for swimming. This pond is reserved for fishing. On the other hand, you can cool off in the azure waters of the campsite swimming pool.
Are pets allowed?
We accept up to 3 dogs (not category 1 or 2). They must be kept on a leash on our premises and their vaccination records must be up to date. Cats are not allowed in the rentals.
