Macon gastronomy

Burgundy’s southernmost town, close to the Beaujolais crus and Mâconnais vineyards, also owes its reputation to the quality and diversity of its wines.

Chardonnay and Gamay offer powerful white wines, gourmet reds that are fine and aromatic, and sparkling wines with delicate, fine bubbles. Just step into one of the town’s many fine restaurants to savour them. We love eating in Mâcon… Excellent local products such as AOP Mâconnais goat’s cheese and Burgundy snails, specialties such as the famous gaufrette, quenelle or andouillette mâconnaise, but also the jewels of neighboring regions: AOP Bresse poultry and Charolles beef, fish from the Dombes, Charollais mutton… all take pride of place.

You’ll find all these great products on Saturdays at the market stalls on the Esplanade Lamartine, where the statue of this famous local writer and politician stands. Come and discover Mâcon and its historical and gastronomic treasures
