What a pleasure to stay at our 3-star campsite in the Ain<\/a>.\nIt’s shady, quiet and you can relax in the cool of the swimming pool, even in the hottest weather.\nBut if you fancy a visit to a site naturally cooled by the magic of galloping water, then discovering the H\u00e9risson waterfalls is an essential part of your vacation in the region.\nThe magical site of the Cascades du H\u00e9risson<\/strong> lies at the bottom of a deep valley, typical of the Jura region, close to the Ain department.\nThe valley runs for some ten kilometers.\nAccess is relatively difficult, but preserves all the original magic of a wild site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located in the commune of Menetrux-en-Joux (Jura), the H\u00e9risson torrent rises at Saut Girard from the waters of the Bonlieu and Ilay lakes.\nThe H\u00e9risson’s<\/strong> 31 jumps and waterfalls<\/strong> can be admired on a 3-hour main hike (7.4 km round trip) in the heart of the region’s natural beauty.\nAdults and children alike will be amazed by the magic of this unique valley when they stay at our campsite near the H\u00e9risson waterfalls<\/strong>.\nFor around 7 centuries, man settled here and used the driving force of water and the natural resources of the area: hemp, iron ore, cereals, wood… Along the trail, vestiges are still visible that attest to the continuous industrial activity until the advent of electricity at the end of the 19th century.\nThe site is renowned for being the starting point for many walks and hikes of all levels.\nWhether on the valley floor, along the river or on the plateaus overlooking the river, there are a multitude of ideas for discovering the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So pack your gear, put on your best shoes and set off on a hiking adventure to discover the waterfalls of the Jura.\nCommonly known as the Cascades du H\u00e9risson<\/strong>, you’ll discover a multitude of waterfalls in a row.\nEach one is unique and has its own special charm.\nFor those who don’t want to venture too far, we also offer a comfortable walk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s less than 2 kilometers round trip, but you can still stroll along the river and discover part of the site.\nBut do you know why this torrent bears this name?\nNo, the origin doesn’t come from the little animals you’re sure to come across at dusk on the terrace of your mobile home rental at camping Domaine de Mepillat<\/strong>, but from the word “Yrisson”, which means “sacred water”!\nSo get ready to be enchanted. <\/p>\n\n
